Cooperation
Several international collaborations have been important catalysts for research in this area. We led a European Public-Private Partnership Work Package on Signal Detection that, among other things, explored the use of electronic patient records to improve signal detection. We also participated as a member of the Observational Medical Partnership (OMOP) and supported the US FDA Sentinel initiative in a comparative evaluation of various self-controlled signal detection methods. Our current research efforts in this area focus on the Observational Health and Data Sciences Initiative (OHDSI) and its associated IMI European Health Data and Evidence Network (EHDEN), where we lead the case of pharmacovigilance use.
